Privacy Policy

Vane ("Vane", "the app", "we", "us") is a personal productivity assistant operated by Ramil Dela Rosa, an individual developer ("the Operator"). This Privacy Policy explains what information Vane collects, how it is used, and your choices. By using Vane you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect
- Account information. Your email address. If you sign up with email and password, your password is stored only as a salted cryptographic hash (we never store or see your actual password). If you use Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple, we receive your email address (Apple may provide a private-relay email).
- Your content. The tasks, notes, voice-note transcripts and summaries, meeting minutes, travel details, and settings you create are stored on our servers so they sync across your devices.
- Voice recordings. When you record a voice note or a meeting, the audio is sent to our server and processed by Google's Gemini AI to transcribe and understand it. We do not retain the audio after processing; the resulting text may be saved as your content.
- Typed commands. Text you type for the assistant is sent to our server and processed by Google's Gemini AI.
- Calendar. With your permission, Vane reads and writes events on your device's calendar to schedule meetings and detect conflicts. This happens on your device; your calendar contents are not uploaded to our servers (only event details you explicitly ask Vane to create are processed).
- Usage analytics. We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand app opens, screens viewed, and feature usage, including basic device information, to improve the app.
- Advertising. On the free plan, ads are shown through Google AdMob, which may use your device's advertising identifier. The Meta (Facebook) SDK is included for advertising measurement. Vane Pro subscribers see no ads.
- Subscriptions. Purchases are processed by Apple or Google. RevenueCat helps us manage your subscription status. We never receive your full card details.
- Technical data. Our servers log standard information such as IP address and request metadata, used to operate the service and prevent abuse (for example, rate-limiting).
2. How we use information
- To provide the app's features (assistant, transcription, sync, scheduling, reminders).
- To back up your content and sync it across your devices.
- To process payments and manage your subscription.
- To measure performance and improve the app.
- To show ads to free users and to keep the service secure.
3. Third-party services
We use trusted service providers that process data on our behalf:
- Google LLC — Gemini AI (processing your notes), Firebase Analytics, AdMob (ads), and Google Sign-In.
- Apple Inc. — Sign in with Apple and App Store billing.
- Meta Platforms, Inc. — advertising SDK.
- RevenueCat, Inc. — subscription management.
- Vercel Inc. — server hosting; Upstash, Inc. — database.
Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy.
4. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers above, as needed to run Vane, or when required by law.
5. Data retention & deletion
We keep your content until you delete it or delete your account. Items you delete in the app are held in a "Recently Deleted" state for up to about 15 days, then permanently removed. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time in the app under Settings → Data → Delete account, or by emailing us.
6. Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
7. Your rights
You may access, correct, or delete your information. Account deletion is available in the app, or contact us and we will assist.
8. Children
Vane is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. International users
The Operator is based in the Philippines. By using Vane, you understand your information may be processed in the Philippines and in the countries where our service providers operate.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
